Ruth, George Herman `Babe`. (1895-1948) `The Bambino`; `The Sultan of Swat.` Baseball`s first great slugger; the most celebrated baseball player of all time. After playing six years for the Boston Red Sox, he was sold to the New York Yankees in 1920. He led the Yankees to seven American League pennants and four World Series titles. He hit 714 home runs in his career, leading the league 12 times. Vintage Photograph Signed and Inscribed, `To My Pal Robert Owens From Babe Ruth,` 6`x7¾` (New York City, 12/18/33). Babe is dressed in a suit, holding a paper in front of a microphone. `ACME` stamp on verson, with press blurb affixed, stating that Babe is rehearsing for his program, `Babe Ruth Boys Clubs,` that would air three times a week and would award club members with baseballs and gloves, and that Babe would take 50 youngsters to Spring Training Camp as his guests.
