This auction is for a vintage WWII era U.S. military "Ike" jacket with an unusual "Ryukyus Command" patch on the right shoulder, this is the same Ryukyus Command patch d esign that is on the WWII service coat which we have had for auction this week and which ended Sunday night, a second chance for the other bidders who wanted the first one! Both uniform jackets were found together, are from the same original owner; we absolutely guarantee that this IS THE LAST RYUKYUS COMMAND PATCH that we have or have access to; when it is gone, that's it from us!As stated in the other listing, we were unable to find an example of this patch or any information regarding it with extensive research both online and in multiple collector books, have never come across anything similar in all of my years of military/patch collecting and am led to believe it must be extremely hard to find, if not rare, possibly very limited issue; no one viewing, watching or bidding on the first coat offered or provided any insight into the back ground of the patch. The patch is of one piece chain stitched construction, most probably theater made; it is machine stitched onto the jacket sleeve above Sergeant stripes with matching stripes on the left sleeve; it is roughly 3 1/4" tall x 3 1/8" at the widest points in top area.The left sleeve also has a U.S. Forces Western Pacific patch which is roughly 2 1/2" across with two hash bars on the lower left sleeve, a Good Conduct ribbon on the chest and a Meritorious Unit Award patch on the right sleeve; there are four impression marks from collar discs on lapels and collar tips but these were removed before we acquired the jacket. (The OTHER coat had a Regular Army tab on wool/felt backing above this patch, but this coat does NOT; the other coat also had Engineers collar discs and a ribbon bar with Good Conduct, WWII Victory Medal and WWII Philippine Independence ribbons and an un-used Meritorious Unit Award patch in the pocket.)The jacket is wool, very fitted design with key hole button holes, all original buttons intact and in place, included under pocket flaps and two at each cuff; has snap closure on the belt tab and metal buckle waist adjustment tabs, all intact. Small size tag at back of neck reads "34R"; tag inside of pocket shows the same size and a date of 1945 along with other military specs.
