This auction is for a vintage WWII era U.S. military "Ike" jacket with an unusual "Ryukyus Command" patch on the right shoulder, this is the same Ryukyus Command patch d esign that is on the WWII service coat which we have had for auction this week and which ended Sunday night, a second chance for the other bidders who wanted the first one! Both uniform jackets were found together, are from the same original owner; we absolutely guarantee that this IS THE LAST RYUKYUS COMMAND PATCH that we have or have access to; when it is gone, that's it from us!As stated in the other listing, we were unable to find an example of this patch or any information regarding it with extensive research both online and in multiple collector books, have never come across anything similar in all of my years of military/patch collecting and am led to believe it must be extremely hard to find, if not rare, possibly very limited issue; no one viewing, watching or bidding on the first coat offered or provided any insight into the back ground of the patch. The patch is of one piece chain stitched construction, most probably theater made; it is machine stitched onto the jacket sleeve above Sergeant stripes with matching stripes on the left sleeve; it is roughly 3 1/4" tall x 3 1/8" at the widest points in top area.The left sleeve also has a U.S. Forces Western read more
