WW 1 us army gas mask, small box respirator Bag in excellent condition, marked #3, canister is green and is in great shape, instructions and patch kit still on string on main hose, lenses are yellow, very clear,no cracks, chips,or fogging. Inside of mask is very dry and rubber is powder, outside part of mask in excellent shape,no tears. Includes nose clip that attaches to inside of mask. Writing on side of bag says "G.W. Reynolds, 31st Engineers,American,December,1915"-could be 1918,cant tell exactly, your opinion? I researched the 31st regiment, they were formed at Manila,Phillipines in early 1916,then they were in Siberia guarding US supplies in Vladivostok, keeping the Chinese and Cossaks from taking control of the trans-Siberia railroad, and they had the job of keeping 40,000 Japanese from attacking the Chinese. That's w the got the polar bear crest with the words "for family", and the nickname "Polar Bears". From what I read, the 31st is still around, and can be traced back to 1916.
