U.S. CIVIL WAR AMES 1861 DATED NON-COM SWORD The blade has a nice smooth even old dark patina finish. The unsharpened blade has about 4-5 dings and nicks on the bottom of the blade. There are a few minor rough spots on the blade mostly towards the bottom. The blade is clearly stamped "U.S.-J.H.-1861" and on the other side the "AMES" logo is also very clear and lightly stamped near the bottom of the logo. The sword has one guard on the front of the sword with the other guard apparently being modified and removed during the Civil War. The entire handle has a nice old reddish and dark brass patina. This early non-com sword most definitely has a lot of history behind it. The sword is in very good + condition, considering it went through 4yrs of war.
