This is a U.S. Flag and Flight Patch, flown to by Apollo 11 to the Moon. Both are mounted on cream thick cardboard with the most famous photo of Buzz Aldrin walking on the moon. The ink inscription in Buzz Adrins handwriting reads: at the top "This flag and patch were flown to the moon we came in peace for all mankind July 1969" and at the bottom "You fought for peace for all mankind God Bless America, Norman for men like you". It is signed by Buzz Aldrin and his wife Joan Aldrin. It was originally prepared for a Vietnam Veteran who unfortunately didnt return. I won this item in the Superior Galleries November 18, 1991 auction when Buzz Aldrin sold his personal items. The item meaures overall 16" x 20".
