Interestingly Bicentennial coins marked the resumption of the Mint's commemorative coinage program that last produced the Carver-Washington Commemorative half dollar in 1954. Abuses in the sales and or distribution of the Carver-Washington coins resulted in the US. Treasury Department, and the US Mint, not supporting further commemorative issues. The widespread interest in new coin designs reflecting the two hundred year anniversary of the United States and was supported by Treasury and the Mint. The silver content of the three coins as of the date of this ad is $11.53. Low shipping. Starting price is less than the silver content.
