U.S. Model 1860 Officer's Dress Sword. It has a thin double-edged blade that measures approximately 30" long. The blade tapers to a point and is etched with floral and military decorations with a "U.S." on one side and an eagle on the other side of the blade. The ricasso is marked "Ridrbock & Co., New York, N.Y." The blade has not been resharpened but has spots of light pitting and discoloration. The handle is ray skin with wire wrap and, other than light finish wear, is in excellent condition. The pommel is decorated with an eagle on the front and a shield on the back. The top of the pommel is decorated with leaves and berries. On the front guard there is an eagle facing the right (war period). On the reverse, the guard is stationary in a half way turned up position. The matching scabbard is nickel plated with brass drag and fittings, all having floral and leaf-like decorations. Overall condition of the scabbard is very good with very small spots of light pitting.
