JOHN POLLOCK grew up in WESTWOOD, NJ, dad was a dentist. Google was almost no help, so local historians please tolerate my ignorance. Looks like John was the secretary for the VERY FIRST CLASS(???) at ADMIRAL BILLARD ACADEMY, NEW LONDON, CONN. in 1936. are 14 1939 covers marked S.S. ROBIN HOOD, with letters inside, that John recieved, mostly from Mom/Dad. **Some great covers ** Note destinations, various postal markings, I did see w two stamps were removed. Several covers would make great lots by themselves. See following lots w John serves on MERCHANT MARINE ships, and one of the ships he served on did eventually get sunk by the Germans. His family worried tons about their son on the DANGEROUS seas of CA 1939, and those letters reflect this agony. But... This lot focuses on S.S. ROBIN HOOD days. RARE slice of history !! Shipping is $5.00 priority mail. Thanks!!
