Fine porcelain of the early 20th Century R S Tillowitz Cake Plate from the factory of Reinhold Schlegelmilch Lovely rose floral motif with gold accent Welcome to Simpler Times Antiques! Here today for your consideration we're offering this lovely rose floral decorated porcelain cake plate from the factory of Reinhold Schlegelmilch at Tillowitz, Silesia. Our plate measures about 9.5" in diameter (just a bit more across the handles) and has a decorative motif of pink rose blossoms on a background ranging from almost white to deep celery green. Applied gold trim at the rim of the plate accentuates the design. On the reverse you'll find the blue wreath and star RS Tillowitz Silesia mark which dates the plate's production to some time from the 1920s to middle 1930s. The mark also indicates that the plate was hand painted. It's a beautiful piece that could easily be used as intended today or displayed as a cabinet plate for its obvious decorative value. A close look at this item proves it to be damage free. We found no chips, cracks, or evidence of repair. There is no crazing of the glaze. We found no hard water film or other discoloration. There is some noticeable light wear of the applied gold about the rim and a single glaze pop near the center of the plate which is smaller than the head of a pin. Surface scratching and scuffing are very minimal on this piece. It simply displays beautifully. If used as intended it will honor both your cakes and your guests. Displayed on the wall or in a cabinet it will add grace and elegance to your decor. Either way you're the winner. We feel like it will easily satisfy hostess and collector alike.
