U.S. WWII Generals First Day Cover About this Item Authentic, autographed, vintage First Day Cover hand-signed by three United States World War II Generals including, Matthew Ridgway (March 3, 1895- July 26, 1993), Lauris Norstad (March 24, 1907-September 12, 1988), and J. Lawton Collins (May 1, 1896-September 12, 1987). Biography Information General Matthew Ridgway (March 3, 1895- July 26, 1993) was a United States Army General during World War II, however he is perhaps most famous for the resurrection of the United Nations war effort during the Korean War. In 1986, General Ridgway was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Ronald Reagan. General Lauris Norstad (March 24, 1907-September 12, 1988) was a General in the United States Army Air Forces and the United States Air Force during World War II. General Colllins (May 1, 1896-September 12, 1987) was a United States Army General in WWII serving in both the Pacific and European Theaters of Operations.
