A very rare pen tray from the Arts & Crafts era. Souvenir from the 1905 Lewis & Clark Exposition in Portland, Oregon. This is a repousse image of Sacajawea holding her son, Jean Baptiste. The statue was dedicated during the exposition and now stands in Washington Park in Portland. The edge is a wonderful floral design of roses from "the city of roses" which is Portland The metal of tray is presumed to be pewter but is untested. A magnet does not stick. The pen tray is sturdy and well made but no makers mark is seen. This was found in the historic district of Albany, Oregon. Approximately 8 x 3 inches. Weighs 5.4 ounces.
