Up for auction is a contemporary pin...that is, in my opinion, a stand out! Marked with its maker's mark, dated, hallmarked and titled...in scrip: sini? (I can't read the signature) 1999 925 14K Sacred Frog. The reverse side hardware is a hinged double prong clip, strong and sharp, with a two ended c-clasp wire catch...sharp enough to pass readily through a pelt, leather or tightly woven fabric. Based on the clip in a vertical position as I think this piece would most likely be used or worn, it measures 1 1/4" wide (side to side) x 2" long (finger tip to hind toe) x 1/4+" thick (front to back and includes the stone and backside hardware) with a weight of 12.3g on a digital scale prior to packing. Sheet sterling fashioned into a frog, the skin intimated with hand tooling work of (concentric) circular rings, dots and trifoliate diamond shaped punches and dies and finely chased toes and sun ray lashes surrounding the applied 3mm dimensional yellow gold bead ball eyes. At the center back a speckled cabochon agate of some type sets in a tall, smooth edged bezel representing his sun soaked skin and/or outer being-ness :) and he's gorgeous...almost cute enough to kiss. The stone's shape, an inverted and soft point cone, measures about 5/8+ at the widest (side to side) x 7/8" long x 3/16" deep, a slight chamfered edge with a flattish crown
