Authentic Original Ritual Himalayan Tibetan Shaman’s Drum This drum is used by the Tamang Tribe Shamans who live in the Himalayan mountains between Kathmandu, Nepal and the Tibetan border. It is a rustic version of what they use in the Tibetan temples, but it’s use is much more occult. This drum is used by the Shamans to induce trance and call the local deity into your body. As a channel for the village deity the Shaman can answer questions and preform healings. T’s a great article in recent issues of “Shamans Drum” magazine about the Tamang people and the rituals around this drum. It’s an authentic piece coming directly from the tribe. The age is unknown, but it shows some use. The sound is great and it is in good condition and undamaged. The handle is made from a Phurba Dagger. Phurbas have an ancient occult history throughout Asia. The carving on the top of handle represents the traditional three heads of Vajrakila. As we slope down t is a sort of dorje or vajra (thunderbolt) symbol of spiritual power in the center. On the bottom are primitive Shamanistic images representing the mouth of the Litinal Crocodile and the small slits are the eyes. The Litinal Crocodile's mouth is on one of the traditional three sided blade representing the three poisons: Desire, Ignorance, & Hatred. The drum measures about 24 inches from end to end. read more
