They were made in Japan around the 1970s or '80s, and are of excellent quality and heft with a lustrous (urushi) lacquer finish and chrome trim. Please note that, this one is 14kt nib, not 18kt like present time. It is a dead stock product, Sailor is remaking it. Usually, 18kt nibs Chalana is very soft and often you find it broken very soon. But this one is 14 kt and comparably hard and long lasting. You can search for 14kt, but all you find are 18 Kt. This pen is a rare one made of Urushi lacquer.
