SAINT -- Breakfast In Beirut/Out On The Fringe -- obscure, demo-only U.S. 45 single, date 1983, by artist credited as "Saint" although songwriting credit on B-side indicates his full name as Steven Saint. Sound here is edgy, early 1980's Art Wave/Punk with Talking Heads overtones, cynical/disaffected vocals and stinging/spidery guitar leads. B-side "Out On The Fringe" is the stronger of the two cuts for me, personally, with more of an angry punk-ish feel, and would likely appeal to fans of contemporary bands like Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand. This is a home-made DIY affair with the song credits cut out and pasted onto a blank white label (plus the stick figure with halo borrowed from the old 1960's "The Saint" TV series!) I can't find any information on the artist or "4th Wave Records" so this was likely unreleased, pressed up to solicit potential interest from record companies; the catalogue number on the label, 4W001, indicates this would have been the first release on 4th Wave. Record was discovered in Los Angeles so I'm betting this was a local L.A.-area artist. In plain white sleeve. Record: VG-/VG, one light-to-moderate surface scuff on Side B, light surface wear both sides, light brown stain at top of B-side label, U.S. pressing, stereo.
