Antique Japanese

Knife In A Wooden Fan Designed Scabbard

We have had this wonderful Japanese Knife and Scabbard in our collection for a number of years and, although I've never seen another one, I estimate it was made in the late 19th to early 20th century.

This unique item measures approximately 11 1/2" in the scabbard. The blade measures 6" and the grip is 4". I believe the blade is made of steel and the scabbard is made of wood. It looks like a folded fan. T is some wear consistent with age and t is a slight split in the wood of the scabbard, about 2 1/2" long, at the top, w the blade enters. T probably was a belt loop on the grip originally but it has been lost over the years. I have been as detailed as possible in the description of this antique Japanese knife, so please view the photos before bidding. This item is sold "as is".

I believe this Japanese Fan Knife is a rare find and it would make a wonderful addition to any Oriental Antique collection.
