Salicylic acid is a white powder, stable in air, but gradually discolored by light. It has a density of 1.4, melting point of 158 degrees Celsius, and sublimes at 76 degrees Celsius. Soluble in alcohols, acetone, and slightly soluble in water. It's uses include - manufacture of aspirin, resins, dyestuffs, analytical reagent, and fungicide.
