DESCRIPTION Antique Pottery Syrup Jug or Pitcher with distinctive Classical Motifs. This is a Gem! Including bottom, 3 part mould with applied handle. Decoration is all unique, with no repeated motifs. Greek figures, generally in repose; Cupid and Snake included. Mould is crisp. Chevroned Handle has bearded male face below thumb rest. At the base is another Mask. Pewter top with thumb rest is affixedwith hinge. White Salt Glaze Ground with Beautiful Finish. An Unusual Piece of mid 19th century British Pottery. IDENTIFICATION Impressed Marks : numeral 30 on bottom Piece made in Staffordshire, England c1860 DIMENSIONS Diameter at Widest Part of Body: about 4" Height: 7 1/2" CONDITION Hairline on side that is independent (see photo) and slight spider crack on bottom Otherwise, Excellent! Pewter lid fits well and is without dents or damage; 1 screw is missing but hinge is healthy! Clean Piece without discoloration.
