His reputation was made in the high tech business where his company, International Computer Group, Inc. became one of the key players in the electronic gaming industry. Barry was one of the first people to recognize the potential of interactive entertainment and his business was critical in the early and mid-80’s in building that industry. Barry then went on to be a founder of ChannelSpace Entertainment which created the and the TV show, Treasures in Your Home: The World of Collecting. It is no accident that the great collections in many fields are built largely by successful entrepreneurs and professionals. One’s immediate explanation for this fact is that it is this class of people who can afford to do this. However, every field has deep pocket collectors with undistinguished collections. Really great collections are built by those who are willing to be scholarly in their mission; dogged in their quest, and willing to expand the historic economic parameters which limit lesser collectors. In short, great collections are built by men and woman of passion – a quality which is abundantly evident in the leaders of business and the professions.Barry Friedman fits this profile to a T. He has approached the varied areas of his collecting interests by first immersing himself in their history in order to more fully appreciate the objects themselves. He has pursued what he wanted with ferocity; utilizing every method of acquisition available. Finally, when put in a competitive position, he has been willing to pay more (and in some cases, appreciably more) than historical precedents might dictate. Barry Friedman has found his passion!" - Joe Levine - Presedential Coins and Collectibles Barry Friedman Barry Friedman is a world renown collector and historian. After passing through phases of Cubism, Futurism and Metaphysical painting, he joined the Surrealists in 1929 and his talent for self-publicity rapidly made him the most famous representative of the movement.
