T his is a limited edition giclee titled " The Rotting Donkey" by S alvador Dali. This piece is fa csimile signed on the lower right. Pencil numbered from an edition of 375. Paper measures 14" x 10.5". Image measures 12" x 9". Made on thick quality archival paper. In excellent condition, comes unframed. Comes with a certificate. Dalí was clearly influenced by the paintings of André Masson, who also was using sand as a medium during the late 1920s. However, this painting also features a clear departure from the early surrealist work in that it does not involve automatism, which was still the prevailing guiding principle at the time. Dalí was influenced by Miró, Arp, and most prominently, Picasso to create the nebulous central character. The donkey is nibbling at the central character’s leg. Flies surround its decaying head. Agiclée print is the highest quality print available today. Because there is no visible dot screen pattern the resulting image has all of the subtle tonalities of the original art.
