Sampler, with verse, early 19th century Signed "Sarah Thomas Aged 11 March 31 1826," Silk on linen;worked in green with black lettering on cream field, pious verse enclosed in colorful sawtooth border which is enclosed in a finely stitched strawberry border; top panel includes small dogs in the corner with alternating flower baskets and trees; bottom panel includes a handsome arrangement of stylized baskets of flowers and a deer being chased by a small dog. Very delicate and perfectly executed stitching; original frame of faux tiger maple paint decorated OD 22.25"h x 17.5"w ID 16.75"h x 12.25"w minor thread loss to lower corners; small holes in lower band
