Sampler, with verse, English school, 19th century Signed "Ann Elston aged 11, 1833,"silk on fine linen, executed in a variety of greens, brown, and red on cream field, exquisitely stitched undulating floral border, rose blossoms worked into upper left corners to frame a row of trees and flower baskets; pious verse is above a band of flowers and two lions; sampler includes a one chimney house with a picket fence, under which is a second verse. In original mahogany veneer frame with gilt liner, some veneer loss to frame. This sampler is visually delightful with color and stylized flowers and birds. OD 22.75"h x 18.75"w, ID 19.5"h x 14.5"w some staining
