This is a nice clean 8" wide blade vintage draw knife marked "SAMSON" on the upper cross beam. A very nicely made draw knife, with wood handles, with metal caps, and ferrule, both very solid, one of the wood handles has what appears to be a old dark wood stain on about 20% of the surface. I suppose it was a rosewood type stain to make the handles appear to be rosewood, but these beech handles look very nice, and are solid, no cracks. The cutting edge is very sharp, ready to use condition. All the metal is rust free, and in clean condition, no cracks or damage. Generally the "SAMSON" mark on vintage tools is considers to be a tool manufactured by PECK, STOW & WILCOX in Southington CT U.S.A., but it is unusual to see the Samson trade mark on a draw knife, as most of the time Samson was marked on their auger bits, and braces. A very nice, hard to find draw knife!
