Night Rain at Narumi Military Brillance for Eight Views Kuniyoshi Original Japanese Wootdblock Print (1852) Night Rain at Narumi Artist: Kuniyoshi (1797-1861) Format: O-ban (24cmx36cm) Conditions: Very fine colors and impression . Very slight soiled. The print was been restored. The print is exactly as the picture . Please show the pictures! thanks Subject : This work is a print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi, one of the most famous masters of Ukiyoe-style for Edo Period. He was a pupil of the great Toyokuni I. He was one of the mains artists of the Utagawa School. He had a lot of disciples as Yoshitoshi, Yoshiiku, Yoshitsuya,Yoshifuji , etc…. We can admire here his ability. The print is one of the famous series of Kuniyoshi “Yobu Hakkei”(Military Brillance of Eight Views) printed in 1852. The print represents Imagawa Yoshimoto fighting in a downpour at the battle of Okehazama (1560). He died during this battle. He was one of the three daimyo that dominated the Tokaido region.
