SAN FRANCISCO, CAL. SEP. 15, 1853 eight page letter(No envelope) from businessman WM. HALL, sent to fellow businessman / banker JOHN GARDINER, NORWALK, OHIO. Read about the economic conditions in S.F., especially investment opportunities. Around 20 steamships are mentioned!! Remember, all goods and mail had to go around S. America via ship, which took around 100 days, and was VERY RISKY! Looks like sender Mr. Hall was from the Norwalk area: He mentions that the McCreary(He was a wheat speculator) family from Milan was in S.F., plus Hall was friends with other Norwalk folks. I see loads of very specific trade information. INCREDIBLE letter, worthy of a museum or a fine collection. I see normal folds and light wear. See my prior auction for another similar, but much shorter, 1854 letter. Thanks for looking!!
