Offering for auction a beautiful piece of pottery of the San IIdefonso Pueblo. The black clay bowl is modeled in the style of the famous potter Maria Martinez who perfected the technique. She in turn taught family and extended members of family. The bowl measures approximately 2 inches high and 2 3/4 inches wide with a 1 3/4 inch opining on the top. Clearly signed on the bottom is "Josephine San IIdefonzo Pru" (I think the last mark is Pru but I am not positive). I can not put an age on the bowl. T is so much more I would like to say about this piece. I have researched this piece and know that Josephine is a member of the family, however I certainly am not an expert. . The bowl is in excellent condition with only two slight surface scratches, otherwise it very clean inside and out, an almost perfect piece for it's age. Thank you for your interest. If anyone would be so kind to fill me in on further information I would be very grateful.
