Hello eBay, We are selling the Sancho Panze figurine, from Lladró. Note Also: We are simultaneously selling the figurine for his partner, Don Quixote. To see this item, please There you will find the listing for the Don Quixote figurine. We have both figurines’ serial numbers, so these are not factory seconds. Both figurines have passed Lladró’s stringent quality assurance protocol. Both of these figurines were in produced in 1970, so this is their FIRST production year. They were also purchased in 1970, directly from the Lladró workshop in Valencia, Spain. They were then hand-carried on a trans-Atlantic flight by my great-grandmother and great-grandfather. Lastly, both figurines come with their original bases. ————— Here’s the backstory of these 2 figurines: Don Quixote and Sancho Panza are seen here in a recurring scene in which Sancho is (yet again) quoting an ironic Spanish proverb. But Don Quixote is simply exhausted, and is ignoring Sancho. His sword hangs limp against the ground. This is because Don Quixote is very tired, and beginning to despair, as he’s pouring over yet another novel about chivalry. It was that same idea, of “chivalry”, which poisons his mind over time, and later drives him mad. Good stuff. In fact, this scene is so iconic that these figurines appeared on the 1985 Bisque Collectors Society Advertising
