EAPG RIBBED OPTIC 3 TOED CAKE PLATE WITH DOME ~*~GORGEOUS MORNING GLORY PATTERN ON DOME AND PLATE~*~ ~*~EXTREMELY RARE AND SCARCE CIRCA 1860~*~ You are bidding on a gorgeous ribbed optic 3 toed cake plate with dome/cover. It is in the morning glory pattern on the dome and on the plate.I did research it and finally found it, it was made by Boston & Sandwich Glass circa 1860. This is flint pattern. I found this information on "Pressed Glass" page 188 by Edwards & Carwile 4th Edition 1860-1930. All pieces are very rare and very scarce . You don't see too many beauties like these around.This beautiful treasure belonged to my grandmother, She owned a restaurant in Queens, New York. She displayed her famous strawberry shortcake and my favorite one of all was her chocolate peanut butter cake, with chocolate peanut butter icing! You could smell it miles away! I loved grandma's cooking nobody cooks better than grandma's! Everything was made from scratch. The dome measures 6 inches tall and approx. 11 inches wide. It has no cracks, chips or any major repairs.It has a few little rough spots on the bottom of the dome from being placed but nothing dramtic that will affect the beauty of this dome. It does has some glass flaws when it was made(straw marks) around the handle on the clear glass part. It has the beautiful morning glory around the top of the dome and vertically optic ribbed. It also has a diamond optic design around the morning glories. It has a wonderful thick handle for a good grip so it won't slide off your hands. The plate measures 12 inches wide, and w the cake would sit measures 10-1/4 inches wide. It has no chips, cracks nor any repairs made. It also has the same pattern and vertically optic design on it just as the dome. It has straw marks that are typical in this type of glass, and some glass flaws around the rim also from when being made. It is absolutely gorgeous and would make a wonderful addition to any collection of cake plates, or to display your wonderful masterpieces at your next get together! This cake plate is very sturdy and heavy and weighs 7 lbs.
