For your consideration I have a Sansui 8080DB Receiver that has had a Complete Overhaul performed in August 2008. It sounds excellent and looks like new. T are no scratches on the knobs or faceplate. A few extra bucks were spent on this one and has some very nice capacitors on board and certain ones w the tech, Chris thought they would work best and he was correct! I'm selling this beauty because I don't use it much, Chris restored a 9090DB, a Marantz and a Pioneer of mine. Currently he is doing a complete overhaul on my Sansui BA-5000. The sound and performance of this 8080DB is equal to his work on my 9090DB. I have played them both through my Altec Lansing "Voice of the Theater" A-7's as well as 4 Bose 901's. I also played this 8080DB thru Klipschorns, awesome sound, tube guys this transistorized monster can hold it's own. I have several restored cabinets for you to choose from, send me your email address if you wish to view pictures of the other cabinets. Details described below. Work Performed: The receiver was stripped down to nothing and the chassis and boards were washed. All switches and controls cleaned numerous times during the overhaul process and were cycled hundreds of times. All of the solder joints were resoldered. Every Electrolytic Capacitor was replaced throughout--Brands used were--Elna Silmic II--Elna Starjet--Panasonic FM--FC--Nichicon CE--HE--PY--PW The main filter Capacitors--The Big Ones--Were replaced with 15000uf Panasonic THA low ESR High Ripple capability. Over 30 resistors were replaced in the Power Supply, Protection Circuit and Driver Board areas Fusible/Flameproof used were necessary. All of the fuses were replaced to prevent false alarm failure due to age. 25 turn Bournes potentiometers installed on the driver board for Super reliable adjustments. New Matsushita Protection Relay. The FM power supply's Regulator was replaced. The Dolby Board Was Completely Restored and Works as new. Switch Wafers cleaned by hand--All 36 Leads replaced--All passthroughs resoldered--All Nichicon PY caps. The output transistors are original--were tested and re-installed with thermalloy greaseless insulators for great heat transfer. All of the lamps are LEDS except the Stereo Lamp-- have yet to find a wide angle LED to fill the whole FM STEREO void and look right so a High performance Sylvania bulb with 100 ohm resistor, thus it's 3000 HR life is more like 4000 HRS--The rest are all LEDS. The Cabinet was stripped of its nasty Vinyl veneer and re-Veneered with real Walnut Wood veneer. 4 stage sand--Wood conditioner--3 Coats Minwax Stain, Walnut--Dry 36 HRS.--- 7 coats of Satin Poly Enamel--- sanded with 000 steel wool between coats. The bottom front wood strip was also reveneered and the cabinets vent/grille was sanded and three coats of satin Black applied. The FM section was adjusted w necessary. The amplifiers BIAS current and Zero Offset values were adjusted. The Power Output Meters were calibrated. The wiring was arranged neatly. The rear panel was cleaned and looks very respectable--Shrink tube on Jumpers for hum free removal--Am mount assembly lubricated and adjusted. Output Measured---102 Watts per channel at manufacturers THD spec of .1% The Flaws: Small touch up w someone wrote on the back above the AC recepticals. FM requires a short wire lead around 10" to pull in all stations perfectly. Or a external FM $2.00 antenna provided. ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE ASK! I can send you many more pictures if you wish.
