Santa Maria, California trade token from The Horse Shoe Bar / M. Zanetti good for 1 drink. Made of brass, 23.5mm, octagonal, imprint of L.A Rubber Stamp Co. In XF condition, one spot. Thanks to a fellow Ebay user, here is some additional information on the owner, Maurice Zanetti: " MAURICE ZANETTI As an energetic and prosperous son of Switzerland Maurice Zanetti has made good in California and in Santa Maria and vicinity has a host of friends He was born in canton Ticino November 1 1867 a son of Peter and Louisa Delco Zanetti was educated in the native schools until thirteen years old and then went to work as a clerk in a large tourist hotel at St Bernardino Switzerland remaining there two years He desired to become an engineer and was apprenticed for one year in the railroad shops in Switzerland In the meantime he had been formulating plans to come to America and in 1883 he sailed from Havre for New York California was his destination and he arrived in San Francisco in due time VVilling to engage in any honest work he went to Tomales Marin county where some of his countrymen were living and hired out to do farm work for a time and from there he moved to Duncan's Mill Sonoma county and later to Santa Barbara county and in 1885 worked on a ranch near Guadalupe He next formed a partnership with his brother S Zanetti leased eight hundred read more
