What a pretty pair of shoes! It is unusual to find a pair of old moccasins of this type in such good condition! I got these excellent shoes in a small collection of items near Martin, South Dakota. I believe them to be pre-1900 era and they are all hand sewn with cotton thread on home-tanned buckskin with old clear beads outlining all the designs. T are white and ruby red beads used to accent the floral designs. T are also bits of bead work done all around the back of the moccasin below w the lacing is run through an attached piece of leather. T are also clear and an occasional blue bead done to accent the outline of the tops of the pucker toe. These moccasins are a true classic example of the rare Santee Sioux floral bead work and would make an excellent addition to anyone's collection. They measure approx 9 inches from heel to toe and about 3 1/4 inches wide at the shoe opening. Please only bid if you are serious about buying and paying for the item.
