Up for auction is a Very RARE and nice Santos, SAN ROQUE, SAINT-ROCH, Folk Art wooden Statue . . . . . . .San Roque's height is 14 and 3/4ths inches . Its actual weight is 1.5 kilograms. This wooden statue was carved from wood and was made on the island of Panay, from the southern part of the Philippines. The wood used is native to the Philippines, is the SANTOL FRUIT TREE . . San Roque Statue is very nice because its made of only 1 piece of wood. The past owner says the age is more or less 60 years old. . . I am selling this piece AS IS UNRESTORED as shown in the photos with his HAT untouched . . . . . . in the Philippines, the towns have their own Patron Saints. The towns are divided into mini communities called Barangays. Also, these Barangays have their own Patron Saints. SAN ROQUE, SAINT-ROCH is said to be the Patron Saint of the sick and is very loved by farmers because he is believed to protect their Rice and produce from PESTS. . also, their lovestock. . He is very loved by especially the olds who know him more than the young nowadays who forget their tradition, history and culture. . . This Statue even in this part w it was made is scarce compared to the other statues and is very sought after... . . Please look at the photos and decide accordingly.
