I have for offer an incredible sarreguemines French Majolica face pitcher. The pitcher sits 7" high and is 8 7/8" from the spout to the back of the handle. Circa 1880, French made Sarreguemines No. 3320 The Admiral. Considered RARE in this size Pitcher. This piece is so beautifully and deepLy molded and decorated most especially the Winged tipped Hairstyle overlapping the sides and front forming the pouring spout. His face has such a jolly look and he has the most wonderful crinkLed eyes and Rosy pink complexion.. Around his neck is a deep blue collar with a mottled Mustard trim. The inside of the pitcher is painted in that beautiful washed out aqua blue. The underside is fully stamped with Sarreguemines and the #3320 and the letters M B with a 7. T are a couple of problems with this pitcher. A miss to glaze on Admirals nose, which looks to be on Purpose and certainly gives the Admiral a Jolly Look. A flake on bottom rim, which cannot be seen unless pitcher is upside down, and a very tight hairline, seen in last picture on the top back rim to the left of w the large handle was applied, as pictured. Although not Mint condition, for a 120 year old piece of majolica, these are minor. No other problems or repairs. T is light crazing which is only a cracking within the glaze and not the pottery. As mentioned above this pattern and size are considered Rare, it is large and stately. Offered with No reserve, so please bid early and Let me know your interested!!
