This is an early Sasieni 1 Dot Patent pipe. The briar and original one dot stem are in remarkable condition. The briar bowl is sound with full sized walls that evidence: This pipe was not smoked very much. The stem is in fine condition with a full sized button with sharp corners. The fit from stem to briar is flush and tight, and of course t are no bite marks or damage. The stamping on this pipe is complete and legible, but is VERY LIGHT, and portions are extremely difficult to see. I will describe it in detail so that the buyer is aware of this shortfall of an otherwise excellent pipe. The fishtail Sasieni Logo is light but legible, as is LONDON MADE. Made In England (stamped in a straight line parallel and right next to the edge of the mortice) is faint but legible. The patent no. is the weakest part of the stamping, as follows: Pat. No. /20, (as You can see the middle numbers are not legible). On the same side as the above described are the letters SM. The reverse side of the stem is stamped 330W. (I believe that this is the shape or model no. as I am told that Sasieni used numbers prior to the use of British Town Names. This pipe appears to be carved from Algerian Briar.
