SASIENI EIGHT DOT PATENTED "BLYTH" RUSTICATED APPLE!!!
This little chubby rusticated apple was known in the Sasieni lineup as the Blyth. It was the alter ego to the smooth finished "Putney". The rustication on this Blyth is really quite nice. Sasieni line carved their rusticated pipes to mimic the underlying grain. With that being said, this apple has big bursts of birdseye graining on the sides of the bowl and nice cross grain in the front and rear. This example has a nice depth of cragginess. It also boasts a smooth finished bowl rim which is another nice feature. The two sets of four dots are in the older elongated diamond configuration. The Blyth was a sitter. The only condition issue of note is the tooth impression on the underside of the stem. It should have no affect on the draw. The reddish-orange undertones are beginning to come through to give this Sasieni a patina that only eighty years of life could bring. Stampings are easily read with the naked eye. The Blyth is one of the rarer names in Sasieni town designations.
