This pipe has never been smoked as you can see in the pictures, I list as used only because the box has been open and has aged as well as the material pipe cover has a little tear, I have the original box, pipe is from the 1960's.Some pieces of Punto Oro series were selected to be rusticated with the so-called "Corallo" finishing, which was made in the Sixties and is still shrouded in mystery: no one but the artisan who actually executed it knew the exact technique of this production. For sure the rustic finish was previously drawn on the pipe with a point and then each pipe was hand-carved. The briar was of excellent quality with a beautiful natural colour. This pipe is very light both because of the 5 years of aging of the briar and the very deep rustic finish.The Punto Oro Corallo pipe is a hand crafted composition using a rare briar block that is more porous than traditional briar. The process of carving the pipe is a closely guarded secret and are known for their exceptional smoking qualities. The natural finish is to allow the porous quality of the briar the ability to smoke cooler than any other briar.
