This auction is for one (1) S scale American Flyer Rocket Launcher flatcar , molded in black, with road number 969. This plastic bodied car was part of a small train set (#20315) found in basement storage recently. The trucks and wheels are plastic & metal, while the couplers are all metal, showing no signs of rust or abuse. All stirrups are intact, as is the "tool Box", the clip to hold the rocket, and the solenoid and rocket launching base. There is no brakewheel, nor is there any sign there ever was one furnished with the car. On the bottom of the chassis is the lettering, "American Flyer Mfd by The A. C. Gilbert Co. New Haven Conn USA", while the wheel sets have the numbers "PA-9990. Rocket launching is accomplished by supplying power to the flatcar mounted solenoid, through a piece that snaps onto the ties of any straight track section (see photos). 10" piece of track shown in photos is for instructional purposes only, and is NOT included with this auction. Sorry- there is NO ORIGINAL BOX .

NOTE: This car comes complete with launching button and special track piece designed for this car!

NOTES: Both knuckle couplers work easily, both by hand or with manual track mounted uncoupler. There is NO RUST anywhere. Launching solenoid TESTED OK, but ROCKET IS MISSING!
