Being offered for your consideration is a beautiful and very rare example of a Pennsylvania Railroad 8'' Dinner - Luncheon Plate in the very beautiful Broadway pattern. This one is yet another color variation that the railroad used making this pattern a challenge to collectors to find them all. The plate listed was made by Scammell's Lamberton in the forties and in the green (sea green) and light brown coloration. The PRR logo is in the center and the plate is also back stamped with the famous PRR Keystone logo and as made by Scammell's Trenton China Company. As the books state, this pattern was used, actually made for ''The Broadway Limited'' starting in 1935 and then used well into the 1950's. The plate is in Excellent Condition showing only very light moderate usage from being used in a dining car (a few very light age spots - non detracting - hard to see) and a great deal of the mint luster still left on this interesting variation. The plate has no chips - no cracks and is a great display example with nice colors. This is the actual china that was used on the train and is not souvenir china, rather, the very heavy style of restaurant ware used by many institutions.Truly a beautiful quality example. Coincidentally, this pattern was made by other manufacturers and like I said, the colors all vary.
