Staffordshire Transferware. Beautiful early purple transfer plate. We have not come across this variant of pattern (patterns) before. The central scene is from the "Fisherman" pattern and the outside border is from the "Festoon Border" pattern. This was made by Enoch Wood and Sons(1818-1846). This plate dates circa 1835. Unmarked. Vivid purple coloring. Scalloped rim. There are the same 6 reserves panels used in the border of the "Festoon Border" pattern. Three of them have scenes of different suspension bridges and the other three have Victorian garden views. The central scene is of two fisherman from the "Fisherman" pattern. The condition is excellent. Crisp and detailed pattern. No chips, cracks, or repairs. Usual variant to the pattern makes very collectible and scarce plate. Measures about 7 1/8".
