Scarce 1933 Hungary World Jamboree Battle Axe Top Fokos Very rare piece of Boy Scouts heritage: an axe-shaped can handle sold to attendants of the 1933 world Jamboree held at Godollo, Hungary. High grade brass cast. The blade itself is shaped after medieval battle axes. In Hungary and other east European countries it was a popular to carry an axe-topped cane called Fokos (pronounced 'fokosh') for self defence, every metal was suitable but a law from the the early 1900's had forbidden the carry of steel heads, hence the use of brass, plus the fact it resists corrosion well. On one side the is a symbol of the JAMBOREE with the year 1933 on top of a flower; on the other side t is a depiction of a horseman - a Chikos (pronounced 'chikosh' = the Hungarian cowboy) and the word HUNGARIA .
