Up for auction is a truly amazing piece of early Ottoman silver with three engraved scenes around the beaker. I have not reserched the armorial crest to see what family it belonged to, so it may be a sleeper for you experts. The beaker has the Ottoman hallmarks and two silver assayers test lines on the bottom and a smaller one on the inside of the beaker. Beaker is beautifully engraved with foiliate decoration around the three scenes. I have not been able to find anything like it and are sure it is a very scarce item, most likely never to see another. Though beaker is in a very early form, I believe it dates to the first half of the 19th century as this reigion used very early silversmith methods well into the 19th century. The bottom of the beaker is a separate piece of silver that has been soldered to the body and around the outside of this solder joint, t is some corrosion but still holds liquid perfectly with no leaks. No other issues except the expected wear and very small nicks and t and no repairs. Beaker stands 3in. tall and 2.75in. diameter across the mouth and weighs 2.06 troy ounces.
This beaker is truly worthy of a museum and may just be the last one you would ever see. Many aspects of rarity including the beaker form reminescent of 17th and 18th century European beakers.
