** VERY NICE ** SCARCE ANTIQUE Ca 1860's CIVIL WAR ERA SOLDIER WITH FLAG TINTYPE PHOTO This offering is for an original 1860's civil war era tintype photograph of a soldier holding a photo case and having a wonderful flag hanging on the wall behind him. The gent is wearing a form of short or shell jacket such as those worn by Zouave or Cavalry troops. The flag has an odd, to me at least, star arrangement. There are three rows of stars with what looks like a large area of field visible beside (beneath) them that appears to be empty. Also visible are at least two white and two red (dark color) stripes. The image is a 1/9th plate measuring app. 1 7/8" by 2 3/8" and it resides in the original leatherette case. The front half of the cases liner has been removed and a loose ambrotype of the same gent in civilian cloths sits in it. The tintype is in outstanding condition with only very minor wear. The ambro has some flaking and emulsion loss but still displays well. The photograph displays great and will make an excellent addition to someone's collection, shouldn't it be yours!!! If any further assistance is needed just drop me a note with any questions you may have and I will respond ASAP.
