Scarce French Award. (Medal). National Order of Merit. French Award National Order of Merit (Ordre National du Merite) "Croix de Chevalier" A very attractive silver gilt and enamel medal measuring 40mm x 55mm and in excellent condition. It is the uniface type and is complete with watery blue silk ribbon. The award was created in 1963 and is awarded by the President of France. Persons eligible for the award can be from the military, public and private sector. They must have served at least 10 years in their profession to qualify for the award and distinguished themselves with special meritorious service. Artisans, Ministers, Combattants, Military, Industrialists, Health & Social Workers, Sportmen are just a few of the type of recipents who have received the medal. It is the fourth highest award in France. The highest award being the Legion of Honour followed by the Cross of Liberation and the Medaille Militaire. A desirable medal that would compliment any collection. Postage from France to the UK by normal airmail will be 3.00p
