Just out of a local attic of an old country store is this candlestick style scale. The family remembers their grandfather using this scale in their old general store. They especially recall using it to weigh ground coffee in bags after the beans were ground. The scale is almost all brass, with a brass base, column, tray support, tray and pointer. T is a cast iron reinforcement in the base.The scale stands 10 5/8 inches high and about 6 inches across the tray and the base. It is in working condition with only a few small dents and t It has a nice mellow patina. The scale registers up to 12 pounds. It is well marked in the center of the tray, "L.E. Brown's Pat.
