This original bayonet for the M1936 and M1954 Mexican Mauser Rifle was most likely made in Mexico. Some references indicate the bayonet was made in Czechoslovokia due to the circled Z marking, however the quality of the bayonet indicates it was probably made in Mexico. The reference for this bayonet is Janzen's BAYONETS FROM JANZENS NOTEBOOK, page 143 and Kiesling, Vol I, Number 154. T are two versions of this bayonet. Based on the higher serial number range, this is the second version which has a narrower and more pointed blade and a slightly differently shaped pommel. The scabbard is also narrower than the first version. This version is the more scarce of the two versions. The 15 inch unsharpened bright blade is in very good condition showing scratches from insertion into the scabbard. The bayonet catch is working properly. The pommel is marked with serial number 90262 and is in good condition as is the crossguard and pommel which shows only a few rust marks and loss of finish from wear.. The only other marking on the bayonet is a number letter Z inside a diamond stamped on the top of the pommel The wood grips held by riverts and washers are in very good solid condition with only a few dents and from use. The very good condition blued scabbard has matching numbers to the bayonet. The finish has marks and some loss of finish due read more
