Wow, Wow, Wow, Up for auction is this SCARCE RED WING ART POTTERY VASE. It is from the personal collection of a collector of Redwing since 1966, thats 42 years of searching for the finest and most unique pieces. This is the only one of these pieces that he has seen, except in the collection of the Goodhue County Historical Society, in Red Wing, Minnesota. This unmarked piece probably was designed as part of the series #4000 Sgraffito line. Standing at 12 inches tall, and is 5 1/2 in. wide at the top, this unique vase was designed by Charles Murphy, and as other pieces in the 14 item sgraffito line, it is handpainted in typical 1950's, mid-century color choices. After glazing, the arched lines were etched into the piece, creating the diamond pattern. The vase is in wonderful shape without cracks, and with only one small ding on the corner of an "arch" (see pic) - almost looks like a factory flaw, but I will call it a ding. This is a must for the true Redwing Collector, as these rare pieces come along only by chance.
