I have for Auction a very scarce SALT GLAZE MILK PITCHER WITH AN INDIAN WITH FULL HEADDRESS , this pitcher was at my Grandparents farm when I was a child, it was either on the kitchen table or in the open pantry shelf, I was told by my deceased mother and Grandmother, that the pitcher was handed down to my Grandmother from her mother and then to me ( I'm 64) when my mother passed.
I'm not an expert on salt glaze milk pitchers , but as a collector of other things, I have looked for this style pitcher for 30 yrs., at auctions , antique malls, on ebay and the internet ect. and have not seen this Indian motif. I have seen cows ,animals, birds, bells, flowers ect. I believe the pitcher was made in the late 1800's forward ( if anyone wants to share any info ,please e-mail), The conditions is pretty good for it's age , please check out photo's , there are a few age cracks and chips ,nothing major for it's age, it has what looks like a crack around the handle as shown in photo's #6, but the handle shows no break or past repairs, I think it is just a use crack in the glaze. The pitcher is 8 1/2" high , 9" at widest points handle to spout, 19" around bottom circumference. If you have an interest in this type of ware you need to jump on this one, you may never see another, and for you expert's out there, if I'm wrong about the scarcity of the pitcher I'm offering, e-mail us all and let us know where they are , or send a picture of yours? I'm going to have a starting price with a make offer option. Shipping should be in the $14.00 range, or what it cost to send to your location. THANKS FOR LOOKING ! HAVE FUN AND GOOD HUNTING !
