The Stanley Model 444 is the only known plane manufactured to cut sliding dovetail joints--either straight or tapered. It is an incredibly innovative design (Bodmer's patents) and it is not surprising that no other company could mimic the function without infringing upon the Stanley patents. Due to the number of separate parts (two fences, four blades, two spur blocks, depth gauges etc), these planes are frequently found with missing items, making them unusable. This one appears to have all of its parts, including both spur blocks. The blades don't appear to have received much use. The nickle on the main body is virtually full and shiney. T is even a screwdriver and instuction manual (repro). The original box has a partial lable. Overall, a one-of-a-kind plane type intact. Please check out my other listings.
