This was my wife's grandmother's clock which she bought in 1955 in Norristown, PA. It's called a '400' b/c once wound, it would go for 400 days before needing to be rewound again. Not sure about the 'London Coach' thing unless this is generally how the English coach lamps looked. I copied the term from another auction that had the same clock in it. Sandy says that she remembers that it ran silently and the pendulum 'cones' rotated in one direction in a very fluid manner. She isn't 100% certain that it chimed on the hour... she doesn't trust her memory on that one. I tried winding the clock before listing it here for sale but I met resistance and didn't try any further. I suppose the last time it was wound was when it decided to stop working. The first yellow arrow in the pics point to the thin wire upon which the cones are suspended. The second arrow indicates the shield that slides down to conceal the wire. When shipping, I intend to carefully enshroud the cones so that they don't pivot/slip/over extend in transit. I mention this so that the successful bidder knows that somepacking will have to be removed from inside the glass cover. (This glass 'feels'like plastic but the instruction manual says it's glass. I don't know for sure which it is.) Made in Germany. * * * * *One thing more I just remembered.
