The Physica Sacra, concurrently published in Latin & German, is Scheuchzer's famous scientific commentary on the Bible with overall 762 plates on cosmography, paleontology, zoology, botany, anatomy. The Kupfer-Bibel showcases the state of lexicography and of philological methods in the early eighteenth century and provides a select bibliography of recent publications on these subjects. Scheuchzer, 1672-1733, Swiss scholar, physician, chair of physics, professor in mathematics, credited for being one of the fathers of paleontology, died two years prior to the publication of the final volume, a publication process of overall eleven years. The sketches are the work of the artist Johann Melchior Füssli, numerous engravers of the time took part. Please Note That These Prints Were Issued Uncolored. CONDITION: Very Good. (See read more
